Sweet, Sweet Wilderness

Because there was no fruit left,
She began to eat the sand.
She'd traveled far from distant shores,
To find this desert land.
She'd heard this was a paradise
More beautiful than the rest,
So she'd taken up her courage
And put that to the test.
At first it all seemed sweetly true,
Abundance flowed like honey,
But soon it soaked through the ground
Like a joke that wasn't funny.
Yum yum, yum yum, she told herself,
As the sand it hit her tummy,
And she walked around her desert land
Like an ancient tomb robbed mummy...

But wait, a song! Sung on the breeze!
She heard it loud and clear!
And she drank the sound in through her ears
As the strange song man drew near.
"I've called you to this distant land,
To woo your heart to me!
I've let all other things run out,
To set your locked heart free!
I put the signs straight in your path,
To call you here to me,
And you took the bait, sailed far away,
Or land and distant sea.
I gave you food to eat and drink,
All the fill of your heart's desires,
But soon it was time and the moment was prime,
To let all your idols conspire.
Your hunger's built up like a tall castle tower,
And you've hidden your heart there for comfort,
But I promise you dear, I must make this so clear,
I did not bring you hear just to suffer."

Though she didn't know why,
She believed every word,
And she started to feel happy,
Though it may sound absurd.
And at once a new song
Flowed out deep from her chest,
It went something like this
Though I don't know the rest...
