Rainbows of Mercy

She found her voice
She had a choice
Her mother's lies
Were only noise
She'd tried to hide
A thousand times
But now she saw
There was no time
For giving up
The truth inside
And masking what
She knew was right
She tore her chest
No one had guessed
Her rainbow light
Left on a quest
To find the love
Sent from above
In the eyes of one
She'd been thinking of
She felt so free
Wild as could be
As she dove into
Her mystery
But waters darkened
Round her head
Her lover left her
There for dead
Disease, dis-ease
Far as she could see
She'd nothing left
But to drown in the sea
The rocks below her
Opened wide
Their mouths to welcome
Her inside
The death she knew
Would draw her through
The pain forever
Into the blue
She closed her eyes
Tears made her blind
Leaned forward till
A voice behind,
"Oh, come inside,
My orphan bride!
I've made you a home
Where you can abide!"
She turned to see lights
On distant hill
And a song began
Loud, wild, and shrill
"Behold our God now
Dwells with man!
He's come to marry
Vessels of sand!
His breath He planted
Deep inside!
He made you from
The flesh of His side!
He's seen the tears
You've always cried!
He's seen the pain
Far deep inside!
He's seen the scars
Stained on your lips!
He took it all
So you could live!"
This man had something
None had before
His eyes were open
Like a door
And deep inside
She saw a light
A humble heart
More soft and kind
Than all the men
Who'd bruised and bent
Her to the shell
She'd come to accept
But now she knew
As she looked at the Truth
That a deeper wind
Inside her blew
And it called her to Him
Like an old country hyme
She had sang as a child
Before her world turned grim
"Come home sweet young one
All your crying is done
Not again you'll be hurt
No, not even by one!
This death cliff is your burial
This dark hill is your birth
And from now on you'll rise
Out up from the dirt!
Like a new green sprout grows
After all that it knows
Is the death of its seed
And the darkness unknown -
Shed your skin like a coat
Loose the chains from your throat
Come, I'll show you the story -
The tail that I wrote
Your whole life I've redeemed
Even though it had seemed
It could never lead you
To the life you had dreamed
I'm the master of time
Artist of all rhyme
And I've taken all evil
Buried it deep inside
I swallowed it whole
Every last drop I stole
From the earth and I pointed it
Straight toward the goal
Of glory and goodness
And rainbows of mercy
So you could now walk away
Pure, clean, and not dirty
All your crying is done
Now the victory is won
And I promise you daughter
You're my precious one.
Shining bright as the sun
Come! Together we'll run!
Into glory of glory
All evil's been spun!"
