I Dream

In case you're just joining me on this journey, I am working to write 24 minutes of the most honest words I can every day of my 24th year of life. I have not and will not do this perfectly. But my goal is to continue anyway, no matter how many times I fail. That is all and that is success. Thank you for hearing my story. I would love to hear yours.

I dream of a world in full color, 

Black and white broken down and turned over, 

Where there's no broken hearts - 

No lost souls torn apart, 

And the music is loud and breathtaking. 

I dream of a home unprotected, 

Where the doors and the windows stay open, 

Because there's nothing to hide,

For the bright world outside, 

And your neighbor's your brother and sister. 

I dream of a world we belong, 

And no one has done anything wrong, 

Where the prisoners are free, 

And we walk on the sea, 

Together to milk and honey. 

I dream of a world of belief, 

Where no one has to wonder, "What if?"

Where we all have a yes, 

To our Daddy's very best, 

And we're wide eyed as sons and as daughters. 

I dream of a people of peace, 

Who hold onto the hope not the grief, 

Who forgive like a child, 

Live wide open and wild, 

Unashamed, unafraid, and so brave. 

I dream of families that love, 

Like their Father in heaven above, 

The mothers are so kind, 

And the fathers will find, 

Every way to protect and to cover. 

I dream of a place full of rest, 

Where the sun shines down bright on our chest, 

Where the grass is so green, 

And the mountains they sing, 

For the beauty of life that is blessed. 

I dream of a world that is new, 

Where life shines with an ethereal hue, 

And I'll be there someday, 

Someone's told me the way, 

And I'm hoping you'll find the way too. 

There's a God who paid for all our pain, 

To turn it all around into gain, 

And all we've got to do, 

Is believe that it's true, 

Even when we feel like it's in vain. 

All my dreams can come true in a day, 

When the light pierces through all the gray, 

So I'm holding on tight, 

To God with all my might, 

I have found that He's the only way. 

Follow me down this pathway of hope, 

Leave behind all your fears and elope, 

Marry your heart to freedom, 

And watch wide eyed the beacon, 

Leading on down the golden tightrope.
