Expectations
I expected today to go differently.
I thought I would go on a walk with my husband before he left for work instead of walking under the hot mid morning sun to the library with my son in the stroller. I expected to have time to blog before 11:30 pm and I expected to be in bed by 10:30. I expected my son to go to sleep at his normal nap time and sleep for his usual amount of napping time instead of staying awake for over half of it so I couldn't get anything done. I expected expected expected...
Expectations can be a real booty sometimes. They set our hearts in stone, facing one direction, and can close us off to what the Spirit is saying and doing in each new moment. My expectations went largely unmet today which sent me into a state of disarray and muddled my brain with confusion as I was sent reeling. Why is it so hard to readjust course once one silly little expectation goes unmet...?
Is it control once again that's the culprit for my fanatics? Always grasping for strings to tie the whole thing together in one nice little package when God wants to set it free into the sky.
