Falling Into Mystery
Limits to what we know are often set in stones of clay
Only moments away from shattering and scattering and spilling out with mystery
We grew up wonder-struck until we forgot how we got here
And now we're waiting for the day when we can begin again
A child dances her way around and through the walls of things
Oblivious to the barriers and the dark lines in which we color
While we stand out on the edges looking in -
Remembering wishful thinking and naive daydreaming
Forever and infinity can make you feel dizzy if you let it inside you
That's why we invented rulers and hard edges and scientific methods
We're so afraid of falling into the mysteries around us
Bound by tight ropes of terror that keep us balancing for dear life
"What if?" is a question we've forgotten in the rubble of our theories and methods
Good thing it's still waiting to be brushed off and discovered again
