Spiritual Pathway Assessment

Hello all you wonderful people! Here's a great assessment to take if you want to know how you can individually get closer to the Lord.

Spiritual Pathway Assessment

We are all His individual children and He relates to each of us as individual children. So don't feel guilty if you don't feel close to God in a worship service or listening to a sermon. Those just may not be things that make you feel closer to the Lord.

That doesn't mean we can just skip out on church or not join in during worship - those are just some things we must do in obedience to God (Heb. 10:25 "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as ye see the Day approaching"). But it does mean there are different, less conventional things we can do each day to grow closer to God

For example, I feel closest to God through Worship, Creation and Contemplation. So each day I try to make sure to go and play piano in our house and have my own little worship session since there's only one a week with other believers at church or I listen to worship music during devotions. When it's not so cold outside, I'll go for a walk outside and just be in Creation as much as possible because that always draws me closer to the Lord. And I've been trying a couple days out of the month to take time alone for most of the day (this is the "contemplative" part) and just sit and listen to God. I'll just sit in the quiet and read a book about Him, read the Bible or pray, but mostly just listen. So hopefully that will help you to see how you can incorporate your own "Spiritual Pathways" into your life.

We are creative beings who can do literally thousands of different things to grow closer to the Lord: not just praying and reading the Bible (although, again, these are things we must do as well). So go take the assessment and then brainstorm different ways to fit these things into your daily/weekly lives.

And these things can change from year to year as well (mine sure have), so it's good to always be trying new things and being open to how the Lord is going to relate to you in each new season of life. :) Have fun friends! The Lord has so much more for us than we've ever thought! Just try something new with Him and see how it goes.

If you ever need ideas on how to use your Pathways, comment on here and I'll help give you ideas. But ultimately, this is between you and God and if you ask him, he will give you ideas! Love you guys!
